Authentic Portrait Artist Creating Treasured Legacy Pieces & based Along the Connecticut Shoreline
Hello!
Led by vision and not volume, I believe there's a meaningful difference between taking pictures and creating art - and that's the service I provide for my clients creating sophisticated documentary-style pieces that preserve authentic moments as treasured heirlooms for generations.
I see photographs as visual narratives—composed moments that gain value over time. As an "in the moment" creative, I'm drawn to natural light, harmonious composition, and the authentic expressions that reveal someone's natural shine.
Since childhood, I've been fascinated by photographs and the stories they tell—especially those unguarded "in-between" moments that fill old photo boxes and albums. Where people are simply being somewhere, interacting without pretense, captured in wonderfully authentic settings. These are the images that make my heart jump and inspired my appreciation for photography as art. They communicate the flashes of life we've forgotten but, when documented with artistic intention, find their place on our personal timeline to cherish forever.
My foundation in photography runs deep. After learning technical skills with film in high school and earning my BFA from The University of Arizona, I landed an internship at the Center for Creative Photography, where I handled the works of masters like Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, and Wynn Bullock. The desert landscape opened my eyes to an entirely new artistic mindset. I began teaching creatives in the 1990’s.
Motherhood brought me back to creating my own art. As a mother of two inspiring children (now adults), I spent countless hours capturing their seemingly ordinary moments, which I found absolutely extraordinary. They taught me patience and the art of documenting an age group that's often reluctant to be photographed yet deeply values authentic representation of who they are.
Today, I specialize in families and seniors who want their stories captured like refined magazine features—documentary-style moments that become treasured legacy pieces rather than generic portraits. My approach combines the editorial elegance of fine art photography with the authentic storytelling of photojournalism.
Working with natural light and how it illuminates both subject and environment, I create investment-quality pieces that families treasure for generations. Every session is an opportunity to document genuine connections and experiences, telling your unique story through images that feel both timeless and contemporary.
Located in Connecticut's beautiful River Valley, I'm minutes from Long Island Sound and a short drive to vibrant cities. I regularly travel for sessions throughout New York, New Jersey, New England, California, Arizona, and Oregon. If you're drawn to vibrant, authentic photography that becomes a treasured family heirloom, I'd love to hear from you.
Contact me to discuss creating art for you —whether documenting your family's authentic story or capturing milestone moments for seniors, graduates, and all the meaningful moments that follow in life. Thank you for stopping by!
